Lonely Star

by Taylor P.

Deep in the sky on one gloomy night

A beautiful star shone lonely but bright

She cried for her loneliness, her sorrow, her pain

Cried for lost love, love not lost in vain

The tears welled up and clouded her eyes

and when they fell rain poured from the sky

But her eyes were now blurred and she could not see

That after the rain was a rainbow forming

When the rain and clouds finally left the sky

And the sad little star unclouded her eyes

She could not believe the sight laid before her

She was surrounded by stars and each one adored her

She was never alone, it was just an illusion

The sorrow she felt unwanted intrusion

The more she looked the more stars she could see

Not mere constellation, a whole galaxy

All beaming with love from near and from far

And sending it all to the sweet little star

When the sun came to rise a light filled the sky

The star saw the rainbow out of the corner of her eye

And though all the stars were now hidden in light

The sweet little star no longer felt fright

Deep in her heart she was now aware

That all she had loved will always be there

The stars in the sky do not go away

Though sometimes they’re light may flicker and fade

And the star knew she must be patient and strong

For the day is always darkest before the dawn
